Melba A. Ulmet

Melba A. Ulmet, age 90 of Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, March 26, 2023, at HSHS Holy Family Emergency Room in Greenville.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.  Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Simple Room or the First Christian Church.

Melba Ann, the daughter of Levi Barton Daniels and Lillie Christine Ennen Daniels, was born March 8, 1933 on the family farm south of Hookdale, Illinois. She attended the Hookdale one room school, and at the age of 15 the family moved to Denver, Colorado. Moving back to the area, she worked in Joilet and then moved to Greenville. Melba worked for 40 years at DeMoulin Brothers, starting in 1953. She was a seamstress and retired in 1993.

Melba and Timothy Paul Ulmet were united in marriage on September 26, 1952. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage, he passed away on September 2, 1999. They are the parents of two daughters, Candice K. Moore of Mulberry Grove and Terry L. Ulmet of Greenville.

Melba was a member of the Greenville First Christian Church. She helped with the church bulletin for years. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Melba enjoyed traveling all over the world in retirement. She also enjoyed her walks and yard work.

Surviving are her daughters, sisters Dorothy Ruch and husband Donald of Nevada and sister-in-law Elaine Daniels of Pana, Illinois. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Shirley Olive, Earl Daniels, Maxine Willeford, Henry “Leo” Daniels, Walter Daniels, and Joe Daniels.
