Mike Pashia

Mike Pashia, 55, of Sorento, IL passed away at his home, on Sunday, May 21, 2023, with his loving family at his side. He was the son of Joseph and Vella (Niswonger) Pashia. He married Christina Jo Paul on January 31, 2015, in Sorento, IL.

Family was very important to Mike, being one of six children, there was always lots of camaraderie.  Just about every Sunday was filled with big family dinners, competitive UNO card games, laughter, and practical jokes. Mike had a larger-than-life personality.  Everyone who met Mike said that ‘He was the funniest guy they ever met!’

In High School Mike played the trumpet in the Marching Band, football, and baseball.  Following high school, Mike served in the Navy as a radioman on the Destroyer U.S.S. Waddell and fought in the Persian Gulf War.

Mike began his career in the prison system as a Correctional Officer in 1993.  He retired from FCI Greenville after 30 years of service in 2020.  He was loved by his fellow officers and will be remembered as having a great work ethic, funny personality, and ‘always had our backs!’

He met Christina, the love of his life, in 2010.  Mike was an amazing father to her two children.  He loved his home and was always working on an outdoor project.

“Anything for Christina,” Mike would say, but his biggest joy was their granddaughter, Rori.  “My Bugger” as he called her.  PawPaw and Rori had a very special bond, and his last few years were spent spoiling her endlessly. Mike leaves the family with so many funny memories and special moments. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and a great nephew, Trey Krodinger.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Pashia of Sorento, IL, his children, Brendan Pashia of Festus, MO, Hunter (Morgan Zbinden) Booth of Hillsboro, IL, Lexi booth of Sorento, IL, granddaughter, Aurora Booth of Hillsboro, IL, and siblings, Robert (Sandra) Pashia of Union, MO, Catherine (Kevin) Bone of Farmington, MO, Stephen Pashia of Belleville, IL, Barbara (Fred) Lyles of De Soto, MO, and Mary (Gregory) Basse of St. Louis, MO.
