William J. Lackey, age 78 of Alhambra, IL, died Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, IL.
He was born on Saturday, August 26, 1944, in Salt Lake City, UT, the son of William and Fern (nee Behee) Lackey.
On Saturday, September 4, 1976, he married Roseann C. “Rosie” Lackey nee Stumpf.
William was born in Salt Lake City, Utah; later grew up in Chicago, IL and graduated from Willow Brook High School, Villa Park, IL, in 1962. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1970. He later graduated from SIU Carbondale in 1972. He began working as a foreman for National Steel, Granite City, IL; later worked for and retired from the American Red Cross, as a logistics manager. He enjoyed traveling, going to concerts, watching movies and always enjoyed a margarita.

Mother-In-Law – Ethel M. (Gene) Hosto, Alhambra, IL.
He was preceded in death by:
Father – William R. Lackey – Died 5/8/1988
Mother – Fern J. Lackey (nee Behee) – Died 3/9/2006
Wife – Roseann C. “Rosie” Lackey (nee Stumpf) – Died 12/21/2013
Brother – Robert J. Lackey.
Arrangements are being handled by Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra, IL.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Alhambra, IL.
Memorial contributions may be made In Lieu of Flowers to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
