Highland native and former first round pick Jake Odorizzi shined in front of a lot of hometown people Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Odorizzi pitched 5.2 innings, giving up only two runs while striking out eight Cardinal batters as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cardinals 7-2.

Odorizzi is 6-8 overall, but has been getting better and better as the season has gone on, winning five of his last seven decisions and not allowing more than three earned runs in a game since early June. Odorizzi has only allowed 13 earned runs in his last 49 innings pitched. His next start is against the Brewers on Monday and we’re sure Cardinals fans hopes he beats them, too.
