Comets Kick Off Football Season In Litchfield Friday

The Greenville Comets kick off their football season Friday in Litchfield.

WGEL Sports Director Kent Kesner spoke with head coach Todd Hutchison about his approach to the first game of a new season.

“It’s continuing to grow and continuing to evaluate,” Hutchinson said. “Obviously, we know these kids and we know what they did in the summer and what they’ve done the last three weeks. But it’s always evolving. Who are the 11 guys on the offensive unit? Who are those 11 best guys that can help us on the defensive unit? Who are the 11 guys that can be on the kick team? It’s a 37-man team and everybody has equal importance to us. They all have different roles. It’s about finding who’s a football player and who wants to lay it on the line for their teammates and who has enough heart. We think we’ve got a lot of guys that can do that. Now it’s just finding the place that they fit best on this team.”

You can hear more with Coach Todd Hutchinson Friday night as part of WGEL’s pre-game show, starting around 6:30 p.m. Live play by play with Kent Kesner and Tom Kennedy gets underway tonight at 7:00 p.m. Catch the game on WGEL 101.7 FM or click the “Live Sports” tab at the top of our website to stream the game live online.
