The Junior Comets program, made up of fifth through eighth grade players and cheerleaders from throughout Bond County, will open their season Saturday, August 9 at 10:00 a.m.
“It’s a fun family experience,” said Dave Clark, head of the program this year. “We have cheerleaders that do a good job rooting on our athletes. We have a full concession stand, run by the parents, that is the main avenue to support the Junior Comets.
“It’s a great opportunity for the youth in our county to get a feel for football and get a good basic knowledge of how to run, block, and tackle, and get some of that competitive spirit.”
The Junior Comets have a nine-week season this year. Home games are played at Don Stout Field at Greenville High School.
