Comets Defense Leads the Way in 38-24 Win Over Carlinville

In a game that was touted to be a festival for the offense Friday night’s contest between the Comets and the Cavaliers of Carlinville was anything but. The Comets defense played one of its best games in recent years by holding a high powered Carlinville offense to 12 points each half. The Comets won 38-24 to move to 3-0 on the season. The Comets defense was led by number 40 Eli Randall who had 17 tackles and 1 sack.

The Comets also welcomed back Brady Simpson after missing the first two weeks with an injury. Simpson caught for over 80 yards in his first game back. But the big story of the game was the Comets defense and their ability to hold Carlinville in check, hit hard and force Carlinville to throw the ball more than their game plan likely called for.

The Comets will next travel to Hillsboro to take on the 2-1 Hilltoppers. The Comets now sit in the driver’s seat as far as the Conference title is concerned as the only 3-0 team.
