After a slow start the Comets came to life outscoring Hillsboro 42-6 after the first quarter Friday night in Hillsboro. The Hilltoppers started the game by running right down the field in their first three possessions to take an early 20-6 lead over the Comets. But then the Comets defense shut-down the toppers running game and the offense poured in touchdown after touchdown. By halftime the Comets lead 35-20, and the final was 49-26. Comets Quarterback Tyler Hutchison threw for 7 touchdown passes.
The Comets are now 4-0 on the season, and will take on one of the toughest teams in the conference next week with Roxana coming to Greenville. The Shells are 3-1 with their only loss coming to Carlinville in week one of the season. After their first game the Shells have beat Pana, Hillsboro and Vandalia.
