The various Greenville Comets had an outstanding fall season this year. GHS Athletic Director Joe Alstat compiled several of the highlights and it is an impressive list, indeed.
In football, the varsity Comets ended the season as South Central Conference Champions and with a 9-1 record.
Quarterback Tyler Hutchinson is the IHSA all-time leader in completed passes, yards, and touchdown passes in a career and also holds several other quarterback records in the state.
Wide receiver Austin Lawrence finished in the top four in IHSA history in receptions and receiving yards in a career. Wide receiver Craig Faulkner tied for second in IHSA history with five receiving touchdowns in a game. Kicker Jacob Hall finished #2 in IHSA history in points after touchdowns made in a career.
The Lady Comets volleyball team currently has a 24-10 record. Last week the girls won the fifth Regional Championship in GHS history. They play Tuesday night in the Jerseyville Sectional.
Boys soccer ended the season with a 14-6-1 overall record and a 9-0 conference record, making them South Central Conference Champions.
Girls tennis ended their season as conference champions with a 14-4 overall record.
Boys golf had a great year, highlighted by a team conference championship, their third in a row. Michael Wernle was also the individual conference champ.
In girls golf, Eryn Smith advanced to the Sectional.
In Comets cross country, the boys finished second in the conference. Logan Robart and Megan Donnan advanced to the Sectional last Saturday in Decatur.
