David Kohnen, girls’ basketball coach at Mater Dei High School was recently inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal.
“I think it’s a great honor for him,” Mater Dei Athletic Director Dennis Tramme told WGEL. “He probably works as hard as anybody that I’ve ever known involved in any sport. He’s very deserving of this honor.
“He has well over 500 wins and he’s won 20-plus games a number of years. He’s a very dedicated man. This isn’t his only sport; he does a lot of work with the track team and the cross country girls as well, so he’s a very busy man.”
The Mater Dei girls’ basketball team will compete in the Highland tournament this Saturday, January 17.
