The Greenville Comets remained undefeated in South Central Conference play after winning games Monday and Tuesday.
Monday at Hillsboro, the Comets banged out 17 hits en route to a five-inning 14-2 victory. Tyler Hutchinson pitched a scoreless first inning, and Dillon Halleman handled the pitching chores the final four frames.
The Comets put 10 runs on the scoreboard in the first inning to take control of the game.
Tyler Hutchinson totaled three hits while Jacob Hall, Ryan Hutchinson, Craig Faulkner, Halleman, Brady Fletcher and Kaeden Mollett had two apiece and Chantz Kunkel had one.
Ryan Hutchinson and Halleman drove in three runs apiece while Fletcher and Mollett had two RBIs each.
Tuesday, the Comets hosted Gillespie and scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 2-0 win.
Tyler Hutchinson tossed the seven-inning shutout, giving up five hits and striking out nine.
The Comets were limited to three hits on offense, those by Ryan and Tyler Hutchinson and Faulkner. In the sixth, Ryan Hutchinson singled, stole second base and scored on Faulkner’s hit. Faulkner stole two bases and scored on a passed ball.
The wins gave the Comets a 5-0-1 record in conference action and a 13-9 overall record.
