Comets Track Places Seventh In Invitational

Perfect spring weather was the backdrop for the annual Greenville High School invitational track meet Saturday. A big crowd was at the track to watch athletes from 11 schools, a total of 22 teams, in boys and girls divisions, compete.

Both GHS teams placed seventh overall. The Comets totaled 50 points, while the Lady Comets had 42 ½ points.

The finishes for the local girls included first place by Taylor Kalous in the discus, fourth place in the two mile run by Megan Donnan, fifth place by Alyssa Moore in the triple jump, fifth place in the 300 meter hurdles by Cameron Gan, and sixth place in the two mile relay. Relay runners were Hannah Williams, Riley Erickson, Emma Leonard, and Maddy Balducci.

In boy’s action, Logan Robart finished second in the 800 meter run and was third in the mile run, David Holden placed second in the 400 meter run and third in the high jump, David Pearman was third in the discus, Clayton Schrumph was sixth in the two mile run, and Ryker Grove was sixth in the mile run.

The Comets mile and two mile relay teams each placed sixth. Running on the mile squad were Holden, Colin Kessinger, Brandon Hamel, and Robart. On the two mile team were Jonathan Hall, Cain Ashlock, Grove, and Kessinger.

Rochester finished first in the boys and girls divisions to claim the overall school plaque.
