Comets Weekend Baseball Results

The Greenville baseball Comets won one of three games over the weekend and now have a 9-6 overall record.

The Comets topped Litchfield Friday afternoon on their home field, recording a 14-2 triumph in five innings.

Senior Tyler Huchinson had a big game, earning the pitching win and going four-for-four at the plate with four runs batted in. On the mound, he gave up four hits and struck out five.

Craig Faulkner had three hits and three RBI’s, Jacob Hall posted two hits and Brady Fletcher, Ryan Hutchinson, Kyle Dugan, Kaeden Mollett, Dillon Halleman and Alex Schneider also hit safely.

The Comets played at home twice Saturday. They were defeated, 5-2, by Freeburg.

The home team was limited to just three hits coming off the bats of Fletcher, Ryan Hutchinson and Chanz Kunkel. Ryan Hutchinson, who pitched all seven innings for the Comets, drove in both runs.
Piasa Southwestern beat the Comets 4-2 with Hall handling the pitching duties. Fletcher, Tyler Hutchinson, Faulkner and Halleman recorded Comet hits.

The baseball Comets play at home Wednesday against Vandalia and host Highland on Thursday. Friday, the team travels to Pana and Saturday the Comets are at home for two games against Carlyle.
