Lady Comets Softball End Season With Regional Loss

The season came to an end Tuesday for the Greenville Lady Comets softball team, as it lost to Breese Central 5-3 in the Greenville Regional.

The Cougars scored four runs in the opening inning and the Lady Comets were never able to catch up. GHS scored single runs in the third, fifth and seventh innings.

Erin Smith pitched for the Lady Comets. She struck out six.

April Stich totaled two hits and one RBI on offense. Also hitting safely were Kirsten Apponey, Smith, Alli Warchol, Lexie Mills, and Jayla Jack. For Central, Kaylee Schrand was the winning pitcher. Caitlyn Sellers had two hits including a home run.

The Lady Comets finish the season with a 16 and 21 record. Central, now 17 and 12, plays Carlyle at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Greenville Regional championship.
