This is a big week for Dawson Chesnut of Sorento.
The 16-year old is competing in the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross championship at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Races began Tuesday and continue through Saturday.
Chesnut, who has been dirt bike racing since 2002, has been competing in the age 12 to 16 Schoolboy Class.
He is one of a total of 1,483 qualifiers from throughout the nation who make up the many classes of competition at the national event. Chesnut has won many races during the past 12 years and races almost every weekend at area tracks.
A junior at Greenville High School, the dirt bike racer is the son of Jennifer and Steve Chesnut of Sorento.
