The Greenville High School boys’ soccer team opened its season Tuesday with a game at Breese Central.
It will be the first contest for Chance Vohlken as the Comets’ head coach. He is a former player and served as an assistant coach last year.
Coach Vohlken told WGEL the team has nine seniors this year, seven of which are returning players from last year. Four or five are starters and several others come off the bench right away. He said the team has quite a bit of experience as several of the juniors saw a lot of playing time last year.
Vohlken said this will be something of a learning season as there are numerous freshmen and sophomores on the team.
He acknowledged that there are many expectations to uphold for the two-time defending conference champion team.
