Ian Hodge, a Greenville College freshman from Pleasant Hill, Mo., has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Defensive Soccer Player of the Week.
Hodge put together back to back shutouts last week. Hodge’s only loss on the week was a 2-1 decision against Illinois College in which one of two goals allowed was on a penalty kick. He made a week high of six saves in the contest. Hodge blanked Rhodes with a five save performance and extended his scoreless net-minding streak with a 1-0 shutout overtime win over Hendrix, making three saves. In three games on the week Hodge totaled 14 saves on 16 shots on goal, an .875 save percentage.
GC Student Jonny Madrid received an honorable mention from SLIAC. Madrid is a soccer player and netted two goals in his team’s three games including the game-winner against Rhodes.
Other GC students receiving honorable mentions from SLIAC include Allyson Mitchell in volleyball. SLIAC reports Mitchell was nearly unstoppable in her team’s win over Spalding, finishing with 11 kills and no errors on 20 attacks. She added six service aces in the match and finished with 12 aces in three matches last week. Jamie Schollenbruch also received a volleyball mention. She totaled 67 digs in just 12 sets last week, averaging 5.58 per set. She had a high of 32 digs in a 3-1 win over Principia.
