Molly Works, a Greenville College senior from Lenzburg, IL has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week after helping her team to a third place finish at the Illinois College Invitational.
Works finished 28th in a mixed division race that featured 165 total runners. She completed the 6K course in a time of 23:49, her season best time by 39-seconds. Of the runners that finished ahead of her, 16 were Division I runners and another two were Division II competitors.
Dani Pearce, a GC freshman from Springfield, MO, has been named the SLIAC Women’s Offensive Soccer Player of the Week. Pearce led the Panthers attack in picking up two conference wins last week.
Against Principia Pearce netted the game winning goal in a 2-0 win. She followed with two goals and two assists in her team’s win over Eureka, extending her team winning streak to three games. On the week she finished with four goals and two assists for 10 total points. She currently ranks third in the conference in total points this season.
Other GC athletes who received honorable mentions this week include cross county runner Nathan Allyn who ran a personal best 27:17 to finish 35th in the Bradley Invitational, shaving 25-seconds off his previous top time; soccer player Jonathan Bremer who made his first appearance this season and made seven saves in net, recording the shutout over Principia for the win; and soccer player Jonny Madrid who recorded his second career hat trick with three goals in a win over Eureka.
