Greenville High School football and cheerleading team members, family, friends, and fans gathered Sunday for the Comets annual football banquet.
Cheerleading coach Stephanie Tebbe began the afternoon by recognized this year’s cheer squad. Special recognition was given to the two seniors on the squad, Kallie Gan and Hope Payne.

The Leadership Award went to senior Kallie Gan; the Comets Award (for dedication) was given to senior Hope Payne; the Spirit Award went to sophomore Daisy Kaplan; and the Best Jumps Award was given to junior Lexi Green.
Head football coach Todd Hutchinson made presentations for the 2015 Comets team, which finished 4-and-5 on the season, tied with three other teams for fourth place.
Hutch recognized the nine seniors on the team and noted they started 0-and-8 as freshmen and finished 25-and-7.

The award for Most Tackles went to Brady Simpson with 71; the Offensive Line/Running Back Award went to Matt Timmerman with 75% blocking and Christian Moss with 622 rushing yards; the Passer/Receiving Award went to Ryan Hutchinson with 2,242 yards passing and Brady Simpson with 1,282 yards receiving; the Leading Receiver Award for catches with contact went to Brady Simpson with 25; the Leading Blocking Receiver honor was given to Dawson Chesnut with 48%.

The Scout Team Offense Award went to Chris Hemkin; the award for Scout Team Defense was given to Christian Sauerwein; the Offensive Lineman honor went to Scott Woker; Defensive Lineman honors were given to Seth Moore; the Offensive Player Award went to Brady Simpson; Ty Sexton was named Defensive Player; Special Teams honors went to Tyler Bryant.
The Comets do have some players on the All Conference Team, but dude to a conference agreement, that team is not announced publicly until all teams have completed their seasons. Pana and Carlinville are still alive in the playoffs.
