GHS Cheerleading Coach On Successful Season, Upcoming Competition

It has been a very successful season of competition for the basketball cheerleading squad at Greenville High School.

The Comets cheerleaders, led by first-year Coach Amanda Simpson, recently finished 7th in the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association state competition.

Simpson told WGEL prior to that competition, the team placed first out of 14 or 15 teams at a competition in Pinckneyville and second out of 12 teams at a competition in Highland.

Coach Simpson said the cheerleaders come to the high school prepared for cheerleading at that level, noting Greenville Junior High has a strong program that provides a good foundation for the cheerleaders. She also said the squad’s parents are very supportive.
