Bluejays Enjoy A Day Off & Look Ahead To Big Game Thursday


At the state tournament Saturday, the 8th grade Greenville Bluejays came from behind to defeat Farmington Central, 41 to 39, in the quarterfinals, ands almost came back against St. Joseph before falling, 50 to 45, in the semifinals.

The Bluejays play for third place in the Illinois Elementary School Association state tournament at 6 p.m. Thursday at Tolono Unity Junior High.

Head Coach Parker Manhart said the players were excited about being in the state tourney.

Coach Manhart said the Wheaton team is very strong, but he thinks the Bluejays are relaxed and will work hard to win their last game of the year.

Monday morning, the Bluejays thought they were showing up for practice, but the coaches had another team bonding experience in mind…bowling.

Manhart said they wanted to have some fun and loosen up. He wanted them to know there’s no pressure in heading back to Tolono.
