Boys Basketball Regionals Begin February 22

Regional boys’ basketball tournaments in Class 1A and Class 2A begin the week of February 22nd.

The Mulberry Grove Aces play in Class 1A and are in one of two sub-sectional regionals in the Bridgeport Sectional.

The regionals will take place at Nokomis and St. Elmo. Regional pairings have not been released yet.

Teams in the sub-sectional are Altamont, Beecher City, Okaw Valley, Effingham St. Anthony, South Central, Moweaqua Central A & M, Mulberry Grove, Neoga, Nokomis, Patoka, Ramsey, St. Elmo and Windsor.

Greenville will host a Class 2A regional with two games on Monday February 22nd, two on Wednesday February 24th and the championship game on Friday February 26th.

The Illinois High School Association has not yet released team seeds in the sub-sectionals or the pairings for the regionals.

The Comets are one of 11 teams in sub-sectional A of the Pinckneyville Sectional. Greenville and Trenton Wesclin will host regionals.

Teams in the sub-sectional include Breese Central, Carlinville, Carlyle, Gillespie, Greenville, Hillsboro, Litchfield, Nashville, Piasa Southwestern, Staunton and Trenton Wesclin. Anyone of those schools could be assigned to the Greenville Regional.
