Boys’ Regional Pairings Announced


Regional pairings in boys’ basketball were released Friday afternoon by the Illinois High School Association.

Greenville is hosting a Class 2A regional. There are six teams in the regional with the first night of action on February 22nd. Games that night will be Hillsboro against Litchfield at 6 p.m., followed by Gillespie vs. Carlinville.

The first action for the Comets will be about 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th. They will play the winner of the Gillespie-Carlinville game.

Nashville takes on the winner of the Hillsboro-Litchfield game at 6 p.m. February 24th.

The regional title game will be in the Greenville gym at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 26th.

The Comets are seeded third in the 11-team sub-sectional.

Nashville is seeded second and Breese Central is first. Central plays in the Wesclin Regional.

The Mulberry Grove Aces have been assigned to the Nokomis Class 1A Regional. They will go up against Bethany Okaw Valley at 6 p.m. on Monday, February 22nd.

A first round win by the Aces would put them in a 7 p.m. game against Nokomis on Tuesday, February 23rd. The regional title game is Friday, February 26th.

The six teams in the Nokomis Regional are Mulberry Grove, Bethany Okaw Valley, Nokomis, Moweaqua Central A & M, Ramsey and Effingham St. Anthony.

The Aces are seeded 10th in the 13-team sub-sectional. Okaw Valley is the 8th seed.
