Congratulations are in order for two junior high basketball teams in Bond County!
The Mulberry Grove 8th grade Eagles basketball team won the regional Thursday, beating Stewardson-Strasburg 46-31. According to coach Chad Nelson, the Eagles will play Siegal-St. Michael in the Sectional tournament Wednesday, February 10, at 6:30 p.m., in Siegal. The winner of that game goes to the state tournament Saturday, February 13 in Bartonville-Limestone High School.
The Greenville Jr. High 8th grade Bluejays won their own Class 3A regional Thursday night, defeating Vandalia 53-33. The Bluejay boys advance to the one-game sectional in Divernon. They will play Gillespie at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Greenville is 19 and 2 for the season while Gillespie has a 19 and 4 record. The sectional winner will advance to the state tournament.
