Holden Joins Comets 1,000 Point Club

David Holden's teammates congratulate him on joining the Comets' 1,000 Point Club.

With 7 minutes and 15 seconds left in the third quarter Tuesday night in Carlinville, Greenville Comet Senior David Holden sank a three-point shot to go past the 1,000-point mark in his varsity career.

Holden finished the night with 29 points in the Comets 63 to 43 win over Carlinville.

He is the 14th Unit 2 boy’s player to score over 1,000 points.

Head Coach Todd Cantrill had high praise for Holden, noting how much David cares for the team. Cantrill said Holden is a great teammate and an example of what can be achieved with a combination of talent and hard work.

With 3 regular season games remaining and the regional approaching, Holden now has 1,014 points, placing him 12th on the all-time boy’s scoring list.
