Two members of the Greenville High School girl’s track team have qualified for this weekend’s Class 2A state meet in Charleston. The team competed Friday at the Rochester Sectional.
Freshman Madelyn Daiber won the sectional shot put event with a throw of 36 feet, 11 and1/2 inches.
Senior Taylor Kalous finished first in the discus at the sectional. Her best throw of 126 feet, six inches, was nearly 12 feet better than the second place finisher. Kalous goes into the state meet, having the third best throw among all Class 2A sectional qualifiers in the state.
The Lady Comets placed seventh as a team at the sectional, posting 30 points.
For GHS, Kalous was 4th in the shot put, Hannah Williams placed 5th in the 800 meter run, Kalie Meadows tied for 7th in the high jump, Emma Leonhard was 8th in the two-mile run and Daiber finished 9th in the discus.
