Hartlieb Drafted


Highland native Geoff Hartlieb was recently selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 29th round of the major league draft.

According to Lindenwood University Head Baseball Coach Doug Bletcher, Hartlieb has signed a contract with the Pirates.

A 2012 graduate of Highland High School, the right-handed pitcher has been playing at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.

Highland High School Baseball Coach Joel Hawkins said Hartlieb starred in basketball at Highland and went to Quincy College to play that sport.

He was also a baseball player at Highland High and transferred to Lindenwood to play baseball.

Coach Hawkins said Hartlieb won six games for the Bulldogs as a senior and was a solid baseball player with a lot of potential.

Hartlieb was also drafted in 2015 by the New York Mets in the 37th round.

He is the son of Chris Hartlieb and the late Wendy Hartlieb.
