Aviston Man Pitching For Marlins

Trevor Richards, an Aviston resident who attended Mater Dei High School in Breese, has been picked up by the Miami Marlins major league baseball organization.

Richards had been playing for the Gateway Grizzlies in the Frontier Independent League, but the Marlins recently purchased his contract.

The right-handed pitcher will be assigned to a Marlins Class A minor league team.

After his high school career at Mater Dei, Richards pitched for Drury University in Missouri. He was with the Grizzlies last summer and was on the squad this year when the Marlins came calling.

He was 9 and 9 during his Grizzlies career.

Trevor Richards is the son of Terry and Theresa Richards.
