Josie Earnest was born in Greenville and grew up in Vandalia.
Bowling has been in her blood, since her parents, Larry and Lisa Earnest, own and operate the Vandalia Bowling Center.
Attending Vanderbilt University on a bowling scholarship, Josie was the first two-time NCAA Player of the Year. She is currently assistant bowling coach at Vanderbilt and is now a professional bowler on the women’s circuit.
She recently won her first pro tournament, the Rochester New York Open.
The final match was shown Tuesday on the CBS Sports television network.
Josie told us she qualified in New York then had to wait several weeks to finish the tournament.

It was a dream come true for the first bowler to be inducted into the Vanderbilt Athletic Hall of Fame. Earnest said her journey has afforded her many unique opportunities.

By winning the tournament, Earnest will be in the 16-player Professional Women’s Bowling Association Tournament Championship in Virginia next month.
