Bluejays Sweep At Home


The Greenville Jr. High baseball team opened its season Saturday with a doubleheader sweep at home.

The Bluejays beat Centralia 7 to 3 in the first game.

Clayton Dannaman was the winning pitcher, allowing just three hits in five and one-thirds innings. Mason Barnes tossed the final one and two-thirds inning.

Hitting safely on offense were Chase Bellegante, Isaac Turner, Barnes, Steven Jack, and Tommy Baker.

In the second game, the Bluejays recorded a 12 to 4 victory.

Ryan Heath was the starting pitcher. Also on the mound was Christian Bauer with Bellegante coming in to earn the win.

A game scheduled for Monday was rained out. The Bluejays play twice Friday, hosting Patoka at 4:30 p.m. and going up against Saunemin at 7 p.m. at the Jaycee Field.

Saturday, they are at home against Mascoutah and Salem. The first pitch is at 10 a.m.
