In a game heard Monday night on WGEL, the Greenville Lady Comets picked up a win at Roxana, 39 to 36. GHS trailed 15 to 13 at halftime, but led 29 to 23 with one quarter remaining.
The local team held on in the fourth frame to emerge with the three-point victory.
Freshmen Megan Hallemann and Rylee Pickett led the offense. Hallemann finished with nine points and Pickett had eight. Sophomores Ally Cantrill and Madison Gerdes netted six points apiece.
The win evened the Lady Comets’ overall record at 2 and 2. They are now 1 and 0 in the South Central Conference.
In junior varsity action at Roxana, the Lady Comets led 29 to 0 in the third quarter and finished with a 49 to 5 decision. Hallemann posted 12 points and Danielle Brand had 10.
The Lady Comets’ next game is Monday night at Nokomis.
