The Greenville Comets had their biggest offensive output of the season Friday night, winning at Vandalia 77-59.
It was a tie score late in the first quarter, but the Comets took control to lead by 19 at halftime.
The Vandals scored 26 points in the third quarter and cut the deficit to 8 points, however the Comets also continued to score and were up by 11 after three frames. The Comets then came up with 20 points during the final 8 minutes.
Chad Stearns led the winners with 25 points. Isaac Green had 18 points, and Drew Frey and Kaleb Ephron totaled 10 apiece,
The win kept the Comets in first place in the South Central Conference with a 7-0 record, they are 16-11 overall.
GHS plays at Breese Central Saturday. The game will be broadcast on WGEL.
Tuesday night, the Comets play at Litchfield. The Panthers have only one conference loss.
The Comets’ final home game and regular season contest is Friday night against Gillespie.
