COVID-19 has caused changes for some sports in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), of which Greenville University is a member.
The SLIAC Presidents’ Council has announced its decision to postpone the fall competition for volleyball and soccer. The plan is to move the seasons for both sports to the spring of 2021.
Men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, and women’s tennis will be allowed to have limited competitions during the fall while following local, state and national directives from health organizations.
Winter sports schedules in the SLIAC currently remain unchanged, but will be evaluated as the conference approaches the start dates in the sports.
It was announced that since the SLIAC has institutions in four states, covering various regions of the Midwest, the Presidents’ Council will allow institutional autonomy as it relates to the decision to participation in intercollegiate athletics.
Greenville University plays football in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC).
At this time, no changes have been made to the conference football schedule, allowing up to two non-conference contests.
UMAC officials indicated football will continue to be monitored, during this COVID-19 pandemic, and will consistently be reassessed as the season draws closer.
