Big Ten Fall Sports Are Off

Big Ten Conference officials announced Tuesday fall sports are being postponed for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes football, which is a large money-maker for all of the conference schools’ athletic programs.

The Big Ten is the first major college conference in the nation to take such action.

Also delayed are fall cross country, field hockey, soccer and women’s volleyball.

The Big Ten said there’s a possibility the sports could be held in the spring.

The Big Ten consists of 14 schools including the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, and Northwestern University in Evanston.
