Highland native Jake Odorizzi saw his first action for the revamped 2020 major league baseball season Saturday against Kansas City.
The Minnesota Twins’ pitcher hurled the first three innings, throwing 71 pitches, striking out two, and allowing four hits and two earned runs.
The Twins eventually rallied to take the lead, but the bullpen couldn’t hold it, and the Royals won 9-6.
The season began for Odorizzi with him on the injured list due to back pain.
He was Minnesota’s best pitcher last season. Odorizzi is in his 9th season of big league baseball.
