Two GU Coaches Named SLIAC All-Decade

Two coaches at Greenville University have been honored as the top coaches of the past decade in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

They are Men’s Cross Country Coach Brian Patton and Girls Volleyball Coach Tom Ackerman.

Patton and Ackerman’s programs dominated from 2010 through 2019.

The G. U. men’s cross country teams won five conference titles the past 10 years, and Patton is a five-time SLIAC coach of the year.

Ackerman shares coach of the decade honors with Principia’s Mary Ann Sprague.

To say the Lady Panthers dominated the SLIAC is a big understatement. They won or shared the regular season title in nine of the 10 years, and won the conference tournament five times.

Ackerman is a three–time SLIAC coach of the year.

Players named to the all-decade cross country team included Greenville Native Collin Kessinger, Dylan Goodyear, John Mangold and Bryant Simpson.

Greenville is represented on the all-decade volleyball team by Corinne Coon, Jessica Dothager, Anna Finch, Tricia Gall, Allyson Mitchell, Nicole Schaeffer and Jamie Schollenbruch.
