GHS Volleyball Drops First Home Match

The Greenville High School volleyball girls lost their first home match Monday night against Hillsboro.

The Hilltoppers won 25-20, 25-17.

Coach Tracy McEvers said her team got off to a good start, but errors slowly gave the first game away and it continued in the second one.

Statistically for GHS, Natalie Iberg had five kills and 11 digs, Justyce Stephen recorded five assists, Brooklyn Suzuki posted 14 digs, Alison Ridens had 11 digs and two assists, Lilly Funneman and Gwyn Mitchell totaled two blocks each, Ava Curry picked up six service points with three aces, and Mitchell had five service points and an ace.

The junior varsity Lady Comets beat Hillsboro in three games 25-21, 22-25, 18-16. The freshman GHS girls also won 9-21, 21-9, 18-16.

The Lady Comets play Thursday at Southwestern Piasa.
