The Mulberry Grove baseball Aces won a regional quarterfinal game at home Monday afternoon.
The Aces defeated Okawville 11-1 and will now play in the regional semifinals at 4 p.m. Thursday against Carlyle at Carlyle.
The Aces took control of Monday’s game in the first inning, scoring eight runs. They added two in the third and one run in the fifth.
Leading the offense was Jason Millikin with three hits and five runs batted in. Aiden Walker and Arjan Epperson recorded two hits each. Also hitting safely were Garrett Knerrer, Blake Scoggins, Conner Budnicki and Tucker Johnson.
Budnicki and Knerrer had two RBIs each.
Budnicki was the winning pitcher, going five innings and striking out four. Johnson pitched one inning and fanned two.
The Aces are 11-7-1 for the season.
Carlyle is the host of the Class 1A regional.
The winner of Thursday’s Mulberry Grove-Carlyle game advances to the championship contest, to be played Saturday at 11 a.m. in Carlyle.
