The Greenville Comets varsity baseball team improved its record to 3-1 with a 4-1 victory over Vandalia last Thursday.
Edward Jurgena was the winning pitcher, going the distance. He struck out two batters.
On offense, Jurgena totaled two hits while Trent Bohannon, Hudson Alstat and Ryan Harnetiaux also had safeties.
The Comets host Breese Central on Wednesday and play at home Friday against Litchfield.
The junior varsity Comets beat Vandalia 8-6.
Dominic Sanchez delivered a two-run single in the sixth inning for the win.
Also driving in runs with hits were Dayton Oliver, Drake Curry, Kaleb Johnson and Cohen Alstat.
Ben Hutchinson pitched three innings, striking out six, and Cohen Alstat also had six strikeouts in his four innings of work.
