Lady Comets Fall At Home

The Greenville Lady Comets lost their first South Central Conference contest of the season Thursday night at home.

Gillespie came to town and won 48-39.

The Miners led by six points early in the second quarter, but the Lady Comets held a 24-19 lead at halftime. Gillespie outscored the home team 14-5 in the third quarter to regain the lead. The Lady Comets got to within one point with three minutes left in the game, but scored only two points the rest of the way.

The Lady Comets committed 25 turnovers as Gillespie pressed on defense the entire game. Both teams sank 10 free throws.

Leading the Greenville High School team in scoring was Katie Campbell with 17 points.

The Lady Comets are 3-2 for the season. They play at Nashville Saturday afternoon, go to Carlyle on Tuesday night and take a trip to North Mac on Thursday. The Carlyle and North Mac games will be aired on WGEL.
