The Greenville Lady Comets played well Tuesday night but couldn’t keep up with undefeated Carlyle.
Playing at Carlyle, the Lady Indians won 57-47.
The game was much different than the first time the teams met earlier this season with Carlyle winning 49-24.
This time GHS scored the first six points and led 19-16 after one quarter. Carlyle led by two at halftime and nine after three quarters. The Lady Comets kept playing hard and trailed just 52-47 with 1:20 left to play. The home team sank free throws to extend the margin.
Free throws were the difference as Carlyle recorded all 12 of its fourth quarter points from the line. For the game, the Lady Indians were 19 out of 24 in free throws. The Lady Comets made four of 10 attempts.
Carlyle was led in scoring by Emma Meyer with 15 points, Roslyn Harris with 13 and Sofia Hoffmann with 12.
The Lady Comets also had three players in double figures. Katie Campbell posted 16 points, Emma Veith had 13 and Shayna Henderson 10.
Carlyle is 5-0 for the season. The Lady Comets are 3-4. They play on Tuesday night at North Mac. The game will be broadcast on WGEL.
The junior varsity Lady Comets played very well in the second half and defeated Carlyle 39-32.
The home team led by eight at halftime, but GHS outscored Carlyle 27-12 in the last half.
Haylee Clark had a 10-point game and Anna Turner recorded six points.
