Comets Win 20th At Home Friday

The Greenville Comets grabbed their 20th win of the season Friday before a big crowd at home.  They defeated Vandalia 50-37 and now have a six-game winning streak and a 20-8 record.

The home team led by seven after one quarter and six at halftime.  Vandalia crept to within a point with 4:30 left in the third  quarter, but the Comets outscored the Vandals 9-0 the rest of the period.

Their lead was in double digits the entire fourth quarter.

The Comets had three players score in double figures.  Cale Ackerman put in 17 points, Nolan Tabor had 12 and Kaleb Gardner posted 10.

The Comets are 5-2 in the South Central Conference and play a league game Tuesday at Carlinville.  Coach Cantrill is in his 26th year as the head coach of the Comets and this is his sixth team to reach the 20-win mark.

Friday, September 16 will be senior night at GHS with the Comets battling Hillsboro.
