The Greenville Comets baseball team opened post-season action Monday at home against Mater Dei, but lost.

The Comets led 1-0 going into the seventh inning of the regional quarterfinal game, then gave up seven runs to have their season come to an end.

Drake Curry pitched very well as the Comet starter.  He went six and one third innings, striking out 10 and allowing three hits.

The Comets took the lead in the fourth inning when Rowdy Sussenbach singled, stole second and third, then went home on a ground ball off the bat of Ben Hutchinson.  Sussenbach slid head first, colliding with the catcher, and was called safe.

Mater Dei sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the seventh, resulting in seven runs scoring.

Other hits for GHS were a double by Dominic Sanchez and singles by Nick Grull and Cohen Alstat.

The Comets ended their season with 18 wins, 16 losses and a tie.
