The Greenville Blue Jays baseball team stretched its winning streak on Wednesday to six games, with a victory over Mulberry Grove, then the Jays fell to Hillsboro on Thursday.
Greenville banged out nine hits en route to a 15-7 victory at Mulberry Grove. The winners scored 11 runs in the first inning to take control.
Hitting safely were Wyatt Garmon with two hits, and Mikey Sanchez, Javontae Petty, Camren Glisson, Colt Schaefer, Donovan Weigand (wy-gand), Eli Garmon and Keegan Coling with one apiece. Grant Hollenkamp, Rhys (reese) Hentz, Wyatt Garmon and Glisson drove in two runs apiece. The winning pitcher was the starter Hollenkamp. Brantley Jackson and Hentz also pitched.
For Mulberry Grove, Lucas Gaffner had the only hit and drove in three runs. Sawyer Wagoner also had a RBI.
Thursday at home, the Blue Jays fell to Hillsboro 9-3. Wyatt Garmon smacked a first inning home run to center field. Other hits were by Glisson, Schaefer and Coling. Glisson had one RBI.
Pitching for the Jays were Coling, Wyatt Garmon, Schaefer and Weigand.
