It was an exciting night of volleyball in the Greenville High School gym Thursday as undefeated Pana came to town.
The varsity Lady Comets played well, extending the very close match to three sets before Pana won its 21st straight decision. Greenville won the first set 25-14, then Pana claimed the next two by scores of 23-25, 23-25.
Coach Lee Coakley said he was very proud of his players, and commended the fans for cheering to keep the girls’ energy strong throughout the match. The coach noted that all of the players continue to contribute to the growth of the team.
Coakley said he was impressed by the play of Emma Bingham, Ada Jefferson, Sarah Woods, Alison Nemnich, Maddie Beckert, Ava Schaefer, Nova Roeder and Paige Knebel.
The GHS junior varsity fell to Pana 22-25, 19-25. Coach Coakley said Grace Waters stepped up and played well as a front row attacker, then served well in the varsity action.
The freshman Lady Comets were defeated 5-21,9-21.
