Action taken by the Greenville City Council, at a special meeting Monday evening, will lead to the use of the former ALCO building along South Idler Lane, near Harris Avenue.
The council unanimously approved a revolving loan for $200,000 to Rolling Lawns Farm of rural Greenville. The applicant was the farm, through Michael Turley.
Greenville City Manager Dave Willey said Rolling Lawns Farm plans to use the building for a milk processing facility.
Bradford National Bank is the primary lender and the city’s loan will be used toward the purchase of the property and the building.
The land is 2.9 acres in size and the building consists of 24,000 square feet.
The council acted on the request after it had been approved in late June by the Revolving Loan Committee and recommended to the council.
The former ALCO building has been vacant since the store closed in March of 2015.
