County Truth In Taxation Hearing Set

In the near future, the Bond County Board will be setting its tax levy for property taxes to be paid on 2027.

At its meeting last week, the board decided to set a truth in taxation hearing for Thursday, November 5 at 6 p.m. in the courthouse.

A hearing is required if the proposed levy is five percent or more higher than the amount of taxes that were extended this past year.

Also at last week’s meeting, the board approved levy requests from two taxing districts.  The Bond County 377 (FAYCO) board proposed a levy of $157,100, which is an increase of $13,500.

The University of Illinois Extension Board submitted a levy request of $92,500.
