At its recent meeting, the Bond County Community Unit 2 Board of Education approved insurance renewal policies through the Prairie State Insurance Cooperative.
The policies are for commercial and worker’s compensation.
The premium increase is $59,543, a hike of just over 18 percent. The is due to a rise in the property limit blanket, increase in the worker’s compensation payrolls, the overall insurance cooperative members’ loss history, rate increases and overall economic conditions.
Board Member Don Wall voted for the renewal, but commented he would like to look at shopping around for insurance in the future.
The school board also passed a resolution authorizing the school treasurer and fiscal agents to expend district funds from now until the FY 26 budget is passed, so the district can continue its daily operations during that time.
